Summary: This is the answer to a challenge I got from Hello83433. About using this quote in my next fanfic... "Meeting you was fate, becoming your friend was a choice, but falling in love with you was beyond my control" It turned out to be more difficult than expected, but I hope you enjoy it. Slight spoilers for the book! Hope you enjoy!

"Heeey there baby girl…" Dale Barbara said cheerfully as he picked up his seven-month-old daughter. Aside from her mother, she was the most beautiful thing Barbie had laid eyes on. Hannah gurgled and made a joyous noise as her father lifted her carefully out of her crib.

A little while later Julia's footsteps entered the room.

"You two up already?" she asked and wrapped her arms around Barbie's fit midsection.

Instead of answering her, Barbie twisted around in her grip and faced her, still holding Hannah… Then he placed a soft kiss on Julia's forehead.

"Thought you needed some sleep, _Colonel_…" she teased him, she knew how much he hated being called by rank, and especially the rank he had earned during the first month of the dome…

Barbie frowned just the slightest and tried not to think about how much he despised the army… It was the reason he sometimes woke up at night, sweating, screaming, panting… Trying to get rid of the pictures that had etched themselves into his retina… Dead bodies, some children, some his friends… A whole lotta blood… Lotta different tissue clinging to walls, whenever it was bullets or scrap metal that had taken lives.

He snapped out of it soon enough, when Julia kissed his lips. "I love you, Barbie!"

Barbie kissed her back, still holding their daughter in his arms between them.

"How could I be so lucky, to end up with you as my woman? You're far beyond what I deserve." He asked as Julia released his lips again.

She looked at him and put on that Mona Lisa smile that he loved so much. "I don't know… I guess _Meeting you was fate, becoming your friend was a choice, but falling in love with you was beyond my control_…" She kissed him on his left cheek.

"As for the part about me being far beyond what you deserve… That's not true…" she paused as she picked up their daughter… "Hannah and I agree on that part!"

She kissed their daughter's head, before she placed another one on Barbie's lips.
